Double Glazed Sash Windows

A common consideration with older buildings that suit sash windows is a requirement to respect the heritage of the property.

Sometimes these buildings can be protected by local legislation but in most cases the owners chose the property because of these period features and want to retain the
authentic look as much as possible.

People very often believe they need to make a trade-off between authentic design and thermal
efficacy however. With our double-glazed sash windows this is not the case. Our team of in-house trained carpenters can deliver the modern-day heat efficiencies of double glazing whilst retaining a style that’s respectful of your property’s history.

Sash Windows - What are the Benefits?

Double glazed sash windows are a type of window that is made up of two panes of glass that are separated by a small space. This space helps to insulate the window and keep the heat in, making it an energy-efficient option for your home. Sash windows are also easy to open and close, making them a great option for rooms that get a lot of natural light.

There are many reasons why double-glazed sash windows are a good choice for your home. They are energy efficient, meaning they will keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. They also help to reduce outside noise, making your home more peaceful and quiet. Double glazed sash windows are also very secure, deterring burglars and keeping your family safe.

Sash windows are a popular choice for properties as they can add character and charm to a building. Here are some of the benefits of choosing sash windows for your home:
  1. Our Sash Windows are highly energy efficient. When properly sealed, they can help to keep heat in and cold out, saving you money on your energy bills.

  2. These windows are low maintenance. Unlike traditional wooden windows, which require regular painting and upkeep, sash windows are made from durable materials that require little care.

  3. Sash windows also add value to your home. Because they are such a desirable feature, installing sash windows can increase the value of your property.

  4. Sash windows are easy to clean. The sashes can be removed and the panes cleaned from the inside, making it quick and simple to keep your windows looking great.

  5. Sash windows improve security. With modern features such as double-glazing and security locks, sash windows can provide a high level of security for your home.

 Our Process

On Site Survey

Our approach is always to respect the architecture of your home. In doing so we need to not only understand what era of home you own, but also its age. For example, a 1480’s Tudor will have very different requirements from a more modern 1914’s Edwardian. This is why our first step is always to conduct an onsite survey.

In addition to understanding the age and style of your home, it will also allow us to assess potential access considerations or other factors that should be planned to make the process as disruption free as possible.

Our onsite survey also allows us to do any measuring up whilst allowing you to meet our team and ask any questions you might have.

Quotation

Once we know the specifications of the project, we’ll begin devising you a quote for your bespoke sash windows.

We itemise all our quotes to provide full transparency but will always welcome any questions you might have.

If multiple options have been discussed during the survey, we will breakdown each solution whilst also providing our recommendation and rationale.

The final decision is yours however, and we never push you down a route you are not 100% happy with.

Manufacturing

Once the quote is approved the job will be briefed into our workshop and timescales will be confirmed.

Typically, a sash window will take between 1 – 2 days to complete but depending on other projects in the studio, the complexity of your job, and the number of windows to manufacture it may take longer.

At this stage we’ll also agree on a day for fitting based around your schedule.

Delivery & Fitting

We can usually fit 2 - 4 sash windows in a day for a property depending on the team. If fitting is expected to take more than a day we will ensure any windows we start work on are completed that same day to ensure your home is secure each night.

We also take pride in our ‘white glove’ approach where our team ensures your home is left in the same state it was found in. This includes the removal of all old windows and a complete clean down of the area we have worked in, both in and outside the property.
